Mayor Pete Buttigieg became the latest presidential candidate to speak up for transgender rights at the first-ever presidential election forum focused on the rights, experiences, and voices of the transgender community.
The National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund launched Transform the White House, a digital forum including filmed interviews with presidential candidates, providing a platform for each to discuss how they’ve evolved on the rights of transgender people, the transgender people in their lives, and why they think they’re the best candidate to promote and achieve transgender equality from the Oval Office. Previously released participants include Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Cory Booker, Secretary Julián Castro, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Senator Bernie Sanders.
