Senator Amy Klobuchar became the latest presidential candidate to speak up for transgender rights at the first-ever presidential election forum focused on the rights, experiences, and voices of the transgender community.
Senator Klobuchar on protecting the Affordable Care Act:
“I will [reinstitute guidelines repealed by the Trump administration] immediately. I pledge to you that right now. The second thing that I would do is replace Betsy DeVos. Duh. The third thing that I would do is fully fund the enforcement of these rules and laws. And that means the Justice Department. That means hate crimes. And right now as they withdraw resources from the groups of people in our government that were charged with enforcing these laws, then you don’t get good enforcement. You can have whatever laws on the books—but if you don’t enforce them, it doesn’t really matter.”
